She was born and brought up in Kolkata, West Bengal, India, started her carrier as an actress in Bengali films. She acted

Shakeela is a popular South Indian actress from India who has appeared in Indian B-grade movies. Born in November 19, 1973
in Andhra Pradesh, she started out as an actor in B-grade Malayalam, Tamil movies in the early-1990s and only recently has
finally been accepted as a star in the Kollywood (Tamil based) and Tollywood (Telugu-based) movies. Though initially
started career as grade-2 actress, Shakeela managed to carve a unique niche for her in B-grade movies and also collected
a lot of money which is the base of today's kollywood industry. Her first movie was "Playgirls" in which she starred as
a supporting actress. In 2007, she got the chance to share the screen with Mohanlal in "Chotta Mumbai" and Vijay in
"Azhagiya Tamil Magan". She has developed a major cult fan base of her own. She is the most favorite among a particular
type of viewer of India. She has stated her plans to write an autobiography. The deluge of B-grade or "Shakeela films",
made on a shoestring budget of Rs. 20-25 lakhs, has ravaged the star system in the South Indian film industry. Though
Shakeela has not created a good image for south Indian film industry, her films has made good revenue across the grade-2
theatres which were then on the verge of financial problems owing to the proliferation of foreign TV Channels and Video
